Obituary of Norma Lea Moore

Norma Lea Moore, age 90, of Burlington, Colorado passed away March 27, 2017 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. Norma was born on October 12, 1926 in a farm house in Scott County Kansas to James E. “Shorty” and Alta F. (Mitchell) Clinton. Norma was one of eleven children born to this union. Norma grew up in Scott County, graduating from Shallow Water High school in 1944. Norma married Archie L. Moore on December 31, 1943 in Leota, Kansas. The couple was blessed with four children. Following their move to Colorado on September 7, 1947, Norma worked at the Kit Carson Memorial Hospital for 7 years before beginning a 22 1/2 year career as a teller/clerk for Equitable Savings and Loan in Burlington. Norma was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church North of Bethune, Colorado as well as First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Burlington. She was a member of several quilting clubs at the Burlington Senior Center and enjoyed making quilts and blankets at her church for various mission organizations. Another one of her favorite pastimes was making baby quilts for a pediatric hospital and crocheting hats for cancer patients all in Denver, Colorado. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie Moore; one daughter, Brenda Wolf; her three brothers, James, Ward, and Russell; and her seven sisters Cora, Lora, Madge, Dorothy, Frances, Waneta, and Jeannine. Norma is survived by two sons, Dennis and wife Virginia Moore of Weatherford, OK, and Donald and wife Florie Moore of Burlington, CO; one daughter, Linda Collins of Sharon Springs, KS; and her son-in-law Larry Wolf of Sun City, CA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
